What has happened. Well, the mini-con went fine. I would have liked more people. I'm set up to go to a Con in March. MomoCon- it's at GA Tech- of all places. I think Tech has become more like the place I would have liked it to been when I went there. Geez- they even have the tech buses stop off at the midtown marta station! In my days, Tech ignored Marta. You would've gotten sticks and stones, if you had suggested that the tech buses should stop by a marta train station- ah well, things change. Anyway, I'm looking forwad to the Con. Though, I've got lots of work to do before then. All the print files and the craft stuff I need to do. Well, that just means I'll be ready for AWA next year.

Took down the Xmas tree. While the cat ignored me putting it up. She sure enjoyed me taking it down. had to rescue several garlands and geegaws from the cat. worked on the hartscomics website. I've decided i want to keep my friends stuff separate from my comic stuff. also i have all these different stories i'm doing. it'll be a whole lot easier to just give someone a card that says harts comics, instead of 3 or 4 addies. Also i found this incredible rate for dreamhost (less than $10- expired today unfortunately) so i can test them.

well, let's see the working straight thru two weeks at work work hit me on wednesday finally. i got DAT done for wednesday, but missed HDJ. got thursday's HDJ done and totally crashed on friday. so what needs to be done is i need a weeks worth of stand alone comic strips for HDJ if i have to work straight thru again. so that's on schedule for next sunday. This Sunday i cleaned some more and put up my xmas tree. I've got to switch website companies for HDJ before jan 15th- that's on the agenda- luckily that'll be around 50 or so strips. and we'll see how easy it'll be to migrate a wordpress site. ow i coughed and scared the cat in my lap. why do cats like traction when they move quickly. little holes in my legs. I also need to start thinking of house of other worlds. sigh- maybe i'll win the lottery or at least the runnerup prize.

Okay, i posted a new page on DAT as i was working on it, i realized i was out of a lot of my basic tones. i still lay my tones by hand. however sometimes i'll print them out on adhesive film. I have a few pattern tones i created for myself. and actually i do have a couple of tone programs. it just still quicker for me to do by hand, but my "new" tablet pc is much quicker than the old one. i should try doing the basic dot ones and see how it works. HDJ keeps chugging along. I can feel the momentum behind me. i"ve gotten used to getting up at 4 am. I really am a morning person- i get my best work done in the first four hours. before getting up at 6, i'd be just getting into the steam of it and have to quit to get ready for work. Well, let me go finish up the character page for HDJ - that still needs to be done before i can start advertising it.

Hazy Daisy Jam

Okay, a bit more fine tuning and hazy daisy jam will be finally up and running. You can check it out there. I've placed it on comicssherpa too. It's a bit moe mainstream then most of my other stuff and it's a strip too. so I'll see how it does there. Switching DAT to wordpress will probably get pushed back to next year but the comic will be updating again starting december 2009. The House of Other Worlds will start up again jan 2010. We're working on more print files. So it's all looking good. And my apt is starting to look inhabitable again. I work on the art, then i work on the apt,- the apt feels more friendlier so i feel like working on the art again. the cat is happy, i'm happy. work sux but we're building a wall so we can block it out. not easy. but it's going again. once i get the momentum going, everything will be fine- the problem is the getting the momentum going.

well, things are actually going fine. i'm going to relaunch everything dec 2009(my 50th bday). i'm working in the background of my websites. everything will be on one site under wordpress/comicpress. i'm really impressed with comicpress 2.8 its very user friendly . one of the things I want to do next year is set up a comic ring site and this is very beginner friendly- no code needed- well i'll have to do some cpanel stuff. but not like the old days of handcoding every single page. but that's next year. this year, i'm building up my backlog of comics, rebuilding websites, putting comics into print. DAT 1 is done. I'm really excited with everything.

realized the utrecht art shop is right by the station- actually just a 6 minute walk away. so I went to look around. its okay- the people are nice. but selection wise is it's very classical. but its a handy place to pick up my basic supplies that michaels by work doesn't carry. as I was walking back I realized I really don't like its neighborhood- its all these condo skyscrapers with the shops on the bottom. the area had such a cold feel to it. eh, maybe its just me.

When i have something that makes me mad. I write it down- get ready to post it. And I realize I'm no longer angry. So i delete it. Of course, sometimes i write things down and i find I'm even angrier- those I delete also- because when i'm angry like that, I always say the wrong thing. So, is that why I havent posted anything lately. Nope. Just been doing too much thinking. Sometimes i get caught up in the reflections of my thoughts- unable to move. I've decided now just to "do things". So this week - 3 updates of DAT. I have decided when the economy gets better(in a year I hope), I will look for another job- I am very tired of being the "straight person for the joke" in my job. Meanwhile, I'm saving money. And drawing comics. I dont care how tired I get. I'm drawing my comics! I'm going to spend the next year getting rid of things, learning how to drive, and drawing my comics. And play the lottery- maybe I'll be lucky. Ha! But most importantly, I need to keep drawing my comics.

we're down to a skeleton staff because of the economy, very busy and the boss keeps heaping more work on us. I'm so fed up, I think I'll start playing the lottery. And my next day off is far far away. If I win the lottery, i think i'll just quit - no two weeks, nope- just bye! That's how mad I am right now! I'm not getting depressed. Modern Management wants you depressed so you'll stay in a rut. I'm getting angry. I got energy. I got work- my work- to do- BYE!

got thru week one of working three weeks straight. Sigh, I'm really tired of being a manager sort. I really would like to find another type of work, but i wouldnt want to try and find it in this economy. so here i stay. The cat is really being needy, since a few of those days were 10 and 11 hour days. while he insisted on crawling into my lap, i've noticed he's gone from being a tiny stray who would tug at my skirt as i walked down the street to a decent sized housecat. little monster. i managed to catch some more sleep so hopefully i'll be able to draw another page of DAT.

It's a cold dreary sunday- just staying inside and being lazy which means playing on the computer. Discovered that i had bought vue 5 long time ago( it was a package deal with poser 6- (what i really wanted and it was cheaper in the package-go figure!)) so i put it on computer. it's fun with outside views, i think. lots of fun actually just to play and make scenes i might use one day- like this one.

New Medicine

Well, i went to the doctor about my coughing as it was starting to get really bad and i was having chest pain. And it looks like its reflux. I'm taking heavy dosage zantac. And wow that mean pain i had underneath my left ribcage is gone. Unfortunately, I have to wait for 3 hours after dinner before i can lie down at night. Which is an annoyance cause my excuse for not doing any work is i'm tired, let me lie down and read a book. And since I'm not a tv watcher, i've just been sitting at my desk, surfing a bit and starting to draw again(that's good). And another thing too is I'm finding that I have to eat really light at night also. So it's turning into cereal and toast. Also No Soda, No Caffeine and NO CHOCOLATE. Well, there will be chocolate- just not late at night and if we're going to suffer, it better be the good stuff, not the crappy junk we've been stuffing our face with daily. Same with the coffee and the tea. Though, that's already the case with coffee and tea.
Also, I'm off Zrytec and on Singulair, which seems to work. Very little coughing. Well, I still cough a bit around roxanne-but she's a lifetime smoker-it's in her pores. But It's only been 3 days- and its working pretty good. So I'm happy. It may give me headaches, but my sinuses are very congested(but producing less gunk) right now. We're off of the decongestants too(so the congestion could be the boomerang effect), to see how much the singulair can do- it's supposed to work on both asthma and allergies. It has one very spooky side effect- apparently some people get very depressed and suicidal. Looking at what people were writing- it seems to hit mostly children and young adults. Well, I'm not in that class anymore. But, Still I'll have to watch out for that- if it's gonna happen it'll show up in 3-14 days, and i have a follow-up visit next month with the doc. Ah, but right now, it's nice to breathe and not have any chest pains.

I dreamed I was caught up on a cliff which was next to a tree. I couldnt get down. All of sudden i had a flashback of a problem in my life before that i had got around it. I said to myself, when life is difficult, it's time to do things differently. So I hopped into the tree and climbed down. I dont know about you, but i hate it when my subconscious preaches to me. hmph! But it is a valid point

Well, I overdid it. I ploughed thru cleaning my bedroom- did much needed rearranging. Stirred up dust. The closet is stuffed to its gills with things i need to go thru. My gills are clogged with dust. I must have used my inhaler more today than i have in a week. Next up is the kitchen and bathroom. Then the pile in the living room of things to go thru,the stash in the closet, etc. Basically I'm breaking things down in smaller piles to deal with. I've had 4 years of death and trauma to distract me from the housecleaning. Let's see - father dies on election day 2004, brothers starts major freakout, brothers say paramedics killed him. -he had an aneurysm- he was to sick for the docs to operate- it burst- he was dead before he hit the floor. mother contracts lung cancer, brothers freakout and dont want us helping mom, brothers announce mother cured of cancer, mother has stroke, mother is not cured of cancer and needs to go to hospice. brothers freakout and says all doctors are quacks and mother is not dying. get mother into nursing home and with a dnr order. brothers freakout and threaten arrest for trespassing because i am visiting my mother in nursing home. i freakout inside because i'm keeping this cheerful face on so i can give my mother a peaceful death. I let my brothers focus on me so i only visit once a week with a brother attendee, so my sister can visit freely. mother dies peacefully. brothers freakout and say nursing home killed her. Brother follows me around my mothers house with a gun as we get things together for her funeral(they locked us out- as they lived with her because they couldnt afford to live on their own at 30+) The county falls apart and so does their probate system, along with their slow-paced country lawyers- 2.5 years and counting, waiting for the estate to be settled. Meanwhile, nephew contracts cancer, caught early-prognosis is very good- just that chemo takes forever and he keeps getting sick from it. eventually, he's given all clean. One brother settles down and with a wife too. Missy Cat dies of cancer. I break down at vet. It's the c word. Luckily, i felt bad about this cute little stray around christmas time and let her into the house so i dont have a empty but cluttered, messy apt to go home to. New election time, and everybody gets on the edge. Everyone is mean to each other. And afterwards, it's a relief. I guess that's what the last 9 months have been - very stressful, but things get turned around. I feel like, I can throw double sixes now instead of snake eyes. And if not, well, with a bit(okay -lots)of hard work, i can muddle thru the situation pretty good. So, I'm getting there and hopefully I'll be able to look at the new year with a clean house. Actually, that's the schedule. Unless work screws me up. And if it does, I'll get thru it.

i've had a bad cold, i've mostly been sleeping the past week or so. but i feel stronger today- so i may have passed thru the worst. I've decide to once again to try nanowrimo again. hence the logo to the side- i may post my pages as i finish them- not too sure yet. when it comes to writing, i'm not as stream of thought as i am when i'm doing my webcomics. of course, thats the idea behind nanowrimo- just crank it out to 50,000 words and then you can agonize over word choice. maybe i'll have better luck this year. we'll see.

A toenail just fell off or more like it slid off. Shall I blame this on perimenopause. Probably not. I remember jamming that toe on something a day or two ago. But I will blame my eshaustion and insomnia on the big M. I have been yawning such big yawns lately. But No caffeine after 12 helps the insomnia. Anyway have a spooky pic. THis project was using rub on decals to make a new bento box for Halloween.
I also did a massive cleanup on the living room. Which was good cause I needed to vent. I hate retail when the economy is so bad because you always have some dick or pud who decides they dont like your voice or face or whatever and they just gotta be superior. ooh, lets rip up this paper while we think of that creep and toss it into the trash bag. yeah!

Fun Things I am finding with Vista

Well, I needed a harder working system, I got it, but BOY, Vista is fun(SARCASM).
I thought i'd write it down my problems and solutions, in case- it helps anyone else.

First of all, Vista is a nanny computer when it comes to installing programs. If you put the program in the dvd/cd player and it does it autorun thing and then the install guide pops up with click here to install, so you do and a mean window comes saying this "action requires elevation" Huh? What it means, is you are not seen as the admin. The Go around is open the program file on dvd/cd, find the install file, right-click, choose "run as admin" and be prepared to answer several more windows of are you sure, are you really sure, are you absolutely really sure- urgh, so close to shutting off The UAC(yeah -that's what its called User Account Control). Or maybe until i've uploaded all my old programs- and speaking of which

Comicswork 1.0 will not install on Vista- apparently, it doesnt like the msi installer- the work around- a google search led me here and yes it does work. Take the entire SE file and place it into the programs file of your Vista Computer. Open the SE file, look for the comicswork App file-should have little cat head next to it. Right click it, choose run as admin, feed your serial number in and you are ready to run. Close program, click on cat head, choose create short cut- window comes up and says "do you want it on desktop" say yes, and you now can click thru to Comicswork!

The Third but not last problem with Vista- Where is my "move to" or "copy to" function when i right click on a file. Argh- it's gone!! NO!!! Have no fear, it's here-

Anyway, hope these help someone. Vista is pain but the speed and lots more ram and new chip is worth it.

See how a hipinahurry vinyl sticker became a Genzo Bento Box. First we scanned in the super large sticker (before i put it on the trunk). Changed a few things, color wise and clothe wise.

I then printed it out added a few more lines in the hair and jacket. trimmed it and scanned it back in, re-adjusting the colors and printing it out on lazer tran decal paper(My next box i will use plain paper) I hit it with a coat of Super Surface Sealer(I prefer to use sprays on top of inkjet artwork as it bleeds less), let it dry , and then tossed it into the water to seperate the decal. I had already prepared a bento box for the decal. The puti-fresh decoration on the lid was scrubbed off with a brillo pad, manual scrubbing and water. we placed the decal on the dry lid and let it dry. As usual, we had fun with air bubbles. we presse from the center out. but still had some had to be popped with a pin and smoothed out. The dried decal curled up on the edges so i used modpodge to paste the edges down. After it dried, i decorated it with the jewel drop(i used urethane glue to paste it) and glitter glue on the edges. Tonight, i'll give it a few more coats of mod podge. That way it can be washed with a soft cloth. No brillo pads! ;D

I've been having more dreams lately. I know losing weight has given me more energy! But more dreams too? Apparently So. Food as a drug ! I have been eating less fat stuff to lose weight. Interesting. But the dream- I went to this website(browsing thru the web when i'm stumbling is almost dreamlike at times)and it was about this new animation by tim burton- it was like nbx meets batman. I remember i was on a page ab0ut the joker- he was riding a trike- a big wheel one and he wasnt going anywhere because the animation for the page just used the turning wheel, blinking eyes and his mouth's lower jaw going up and down. and there were little dust clouds floating about the page and he was singing. oh my maggie, oh my maggie, oh my little magpie- come out, come out- we'll play house- i'll be the cook, you'll be my meatball.... and then the cat woke me up for breakfast. I hope more dreams are a good sign because when i'm being very voluminous with my creative output- i'm constantly dreaming. Oh, that reminds me- i sketched out a page of DAT, hopefully i'll finish it tonight.

My main website- desolationangel.net is down because the server's motherboard is failing. Not that it matters. I've got no updates for my comic right now. and my host is pretty reliable. If they dont have it fixed in a few hours, i'll be surprised.
I've been pretty busy at work. but everything should be fine now. maybe. just tired of the same thing over and over.
On the good side, my bento box diet has helped me lose 14 lbs. It's really interesting how everything is supersized on you. I really now need to get smaller dishes. or maybe i'll stick dinner in a bento box too. I also have to get some new walking shoes. now that its getting kind cooler and less humid - I want to walk home from the train station every other day. Diet doesnt do it all. Need some body moving too. I'm hoping that by december i'll be back in acceptable range. all i need is 15 more lbs in 3 months. its possible. and reasonable. its the slower weight losses that stick with you.

PS. And by the time i finished writing this post, they had the server back up.

It is so hot! When I got home last night, the first thing I did was head toward the window ac unit to turn it on. Spooky chan followed behind me. When I turned around, I discovered she had already scarfed the prime spot to get the most cool from the ac. After pushing her aside, while saying i am human- i am master of this house- this is my spot, i settled in to enjoy the breeze. She then promptly jumped onto my stomach, knocking the wind out of me, and laid herself out for a nap. Not too sure, if i won the argument with her.

I think I've been going the wrong way to break myself out of a rut. I know I want things to be more organized around me. And I thought if I organized first, and then started working on my projects, it would be good. But workwork keeps getting in the way. So I'm going to do my work and organize as I go. I see no other way, because I'm getting depressed as I've gotten nothing artwise done. Ergh, I've gotten to the point where I dont know if I can guarantee myself a day off from workwork . And with the economy heading the way it's going, I dont see things getting better anytime soon. And petting your cat can only relieve so much depression. I'd like to walk more(that helps with ruts) but until my feet heal up completely from this plantar fascias, we're stuck with relying on my head and diet to keep things together. So, the
first thing to do put my comic drawing stuff together and draw a page of DAT now!

The new volume(8) came out today! So i thought i'd post my fanpic of one of the characters. Saiyuki is done by Kazuya Minekura. It's published here in the US by Tokyo Pop. And hopefully wont be one of their cut titles. Saiyuki is one giant moody angsty saga about The Journey West. Incidently if the name of the youngest main character Son Goku reminds you of dragonball sound familiar, there's a reason- DB also had its roots from the westward journey. Of course, this isnt your daddy's Journey West.
An aside- I really like it when people retell old stories differently. We dont see that much of it here in the US. I wonder if its because we're a relatively young country or because we have such strong copyright laws. Yeah, let's do a "gone with the wind" as a giant robo mecha catgirl fetish thing. See how far you get with that. Where we do see re-rendering of stories is with things that have fallen out of copyright- there's a reason why publishers like to print out classics - there's no one to pay! Of course, TV has had its historical dramas like davy crockett. And in comics, we do have the elseworld dc stories or the marvel whatifs and i dont know many different redos of shakespeare, poe and sherlock holmes. But we dont have much comic redos of our historical characters. Are we too literal of a people to indulge in george washington slaying those redcoat oppressors from an alien planet with giant robots.- I dont know and i've gotten off-topic and run out of time. tomorrow for sure- the review

Last night when I went to the grocery store to get catfood, I saw that Haagen -Dazs had a LE of green tea ice cream. I'd make a lousy rat- put something new and tasty in front of me, and I'll try it. So here's my report. Very creamy and smooth. The Green Tea flavor is very delicate and sweet. This is a bowl ice cream as it melts very quickly. Not heavy. Overall, a very good ice cream, but my favorite is still Trader Joe's Mochi Green Tea Ice Cream

Heh, she sits right in front of the door before I go to work. I have to play with her before i can get out the door. I need to get her some grass stuff. she dug into the trash can(The problems with cats that become strays are that they learn to scrounge thru trashcans -rajah(deceased) used to hunt for used dental floss in the bathroom trashcan.- not good. had to hide the dental floss in used tissue cloth.) Anyway Spooky decided she liked the dried up greens of spring onions. Told her I'd get some of the rye grass. So that's my afterwork errand today. Gotten spoiled that Missy never liked grass. But now that Spooky is numero uno cat she is wanting more. She doesnt want Missy's old toys- she'll only play with her own. Just like a kid!

Today, I did layout stuff for my websites, especially for the blog stuff, i think i like the design now that i've put my banner up. does it say i'm a comicker? ;D
For those of you, who dont know, this is my new cat - Spooky! You cant see it in this picture but she has a white locket. And also white ear guard hairs. She's a stray that I took in after I caught this guy using his dogs to torment her. She was hiding under a bush and he had two dogs on a leash and he was inching them closer and closer to her. They looked like dobermans but i found out later they were a type of coon dogs. I heard that this guy was letting them after squirrels, so maybe he thought a cat would be fun. Anyway, she keeps getting bigger, cause she was a kitten when i got here in late December. She's like a dog- she'll follow me around in the apartment. I'd get another cat but she doesnt seem to like other cats. Another lady in the neighborhood tried to take her in, but she wouldnt get along with her five cats. She didnt get along with Missy either- though she did miss Missy Cat when Missy got put to sleep. Though, with prices going up in everything- I may stick to just one cat.
